The EGSB Reactor technology from CNP Water, is an Expanded Granular Sludge Blanket Reactor designed for the anaerobic bio-treatment of industrial wastewater. EGSB reactor is especially suitable to treat low to medium strength industrial wastewater with high portion of easily biodegradable soluble COD.
EGSB reactor has a higher rate of upward-flow velocity than UASB. The increased Vup makes the granular sludge bed partial expansion or suspension, resulting better mass transfer between sludge and wastewater.
Compare to Biothane EGSB or Paques IC reactor, gas-lift EGSB from CNP Water has the following features and advantages:
- Circulation of liquid in the main reaction zone is better controlled by adjusting the biogas injection rate
- The height of CNP Water’s gas-lift EGSB is only 10 to 15 meters, shorter than IC’s 20 to 25 meters height. So, it needs thinner tank wall and save tank capital cost
- Only has 1 set of separator, save capital cost again
- The upflow velocity in the settle zone is much lower than other reactors
